Network Health, the Wisconsin-based health insurance company, will be a gold sponsor of the 2014 Wisconsin Healthy Aging Summit. The event will take place June 24 – 25 at the Holiday Inn Convention Center in Stevens Point, WI, and is sponsored by the Wisconsin Institute for Healthy Aging (WIHA) and their many partners. WIHA is a private, non-profit organization, launched in 2010 to help Wisconsin’s citizens live healthier lives through evidence-based prevention programs.  This statewide summit will bring together experts, program leaders, volunteers, researchers, health care and aging professionals to learn, collaborate and celebrate advances in healthy aging. Topics will include the latest research in healthy aging and innovative and successful program implementation strategies. Over 200 professionals are expected to attend.

Network Health’s collaboration with the 2014 Healthy Aging Summit will feature a Healthy Living with Diabetes presentation by Jan Cobia, RN, BSN, and Sarah Krause, RN, BSN, condition management coordinators at Network Health. Cobia and Krause are both leaders and master trainers for the Healthy Living with Diabetes self-management program from Stanford. Network Health is key in providing state-wide training opportunities for the State of Wisconsin workshop facilitators.

“It is a privilege to know many of the Healthy Living with Diabetes graduates. So many have improved their chronic conditions, and I have learned so much from them,” Krause said. Cobia and Krause’s workshops focus on how to minimize the effect of diabetes. Participants learn techniques for dealing with symptoms, suitable exercise, healthy eating choices, appropriate use of medication and how to work effectively with health care providers.
