How are late enrollments handled? Are there any situations where late enrollments are allowed?


If an employee waives group coverage then wishes to enroll without a qualifying event, or an established open enrollment period, an 18 month waiting period would apply.  A qualifying event includes, loss of prior coverage, marriage, birth, adoption or a court order mandating coverage be provided for a minor child.  The employee or dependent must apply for coverage within 31 days of the qualifying event.
