This program offers phone counseling to people in Northeast Wisconsin who have decided to quit smoking and stop using tobacco. This program is FREE and open to anyone in Northeastern Wisconsin who wants to quit smoking or quit using tobacco.
Studies have shown that compared with trying to stop smoking or using tobacco on your own, using a formal program like Call It Quits doubles your chances for success!
What happens when I call?
A Call It Quits counselor will ask a series of questions and will help you plan your next steps. The counselor will:
- Assess your smoking or tobacco habit
- Discuss with you your readiness to quit
- Help you develop a personalized plan to quit
- Send you a free educational packet to assist you in the process
- Provide you with support during the time you are kicking the habit
Telephone Counseling ensures your privacy and protects your confidentiality. Only you and the counselor will know you are trying to quit. You can call from your home or cell phone anytime it’s most convenient for you.
Classes are offered periodically at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton, Mercy Medical Center in Oshkosh, and other locations for people who want to quit smoking or using tobacco. Class schedules are available by calling NurseDirect at 800-362-9900.
