Millennium Testimonials

Here are a few things our members are saying about Millennium...

"I have always been an active person. In school I was in sports, after college I was in exercise classes and once I had my daughters, I had to rework my exercise time. That's when I started walking morning and night (when the girls were sleeping). To this day, I still do that and my personal goal is to walk 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes at night seven days a week. Generally that means walking at 5am and 6pm. When it is cold, I have a date with my treadmill in front of the TV. My motivation to stay active is to control my metabolism through the years. Overall, I use my exercise time for stress relief. Walking is what keeps my life in balance. My tip to everyone is find an activity that you like and that way you will want to stick with it. I pick walking because I enjoy it and it makes me feel good. My 2010 Goal is to achieve 12,000 steps a day. Here we go..."

"My husband and I both have health issues, so staying active with mind, body and spirit is very important to us. The Millennium program has been a huge tool for us in staying active. We both try to wear the Omron pedometer every day and are amazed at how many steps we actually do in a day. We both belong to a health club and together we push each other to do things we've never done before. He even does yoga with me and loves it! All the activity categories on the website took a while to do, but they were all very informative and motivated us to be healthier. The programs were easy and I would encourage everyone to just take a look at tm and see how helpful they really are. I truly believe in all these wellness programs. I think they really have made both of us feel so much better and hopefully will keep us healthier through the coming years. And it's been fun doing all these things together! Thank you Millennium for the programs and incentives."

"My exercise routine is fairly standard with the focus on certain races throughout the year, starting with cross country skiing in January and February (sooner if the snow comes) and ending with the triathlon season (May through October). However, like everyone else, I have a hard time "stepping out the door" for the workout at times, more than people would think, especially after doing this for 26 years. I have the same excuses or reasons not to as everyone else: not motivated, tired after work, wanting to "sleep in" the morning, not getting to bed early enough, got lots of things to do, and just wanting to sit and relax. Once I get out the door, though, I am happy I did it and I give myself lots of kudos. I have found that writing out my goals and/or exercise plan for each week and writing what I actually did is very helpful to me. I keep myself accountable which is the name of the game. The other challenge is to be consistent on my nutrition and to eat healthy 100% of the time. Not easy when there are treats at work (I even brought in donuts twice this year) and other temptations. So my focus is to always ask myself "is this a legal food item to eat" before I eat it. I have set criteria of what is legal and hold myself accountable. I share this hoping to help others who are just starting. You can do it!"

"When I got my pedometer, I was stunned to see how few steps I was taking in a day. Some days it was fewer than 1500. Knowing that 10,000 steps a day is a basis for good health, I started setting daily minimum goals. I found days when reaching even 5,000 steps was tough, but I did not miss a day. Now I am averaging 8,000 steps/day. I am not yet at my final goal of over 10,000 steps/day but my trend line is good. I feel better. And now I don't want to miss even one day of walking. Thanks!"

"I have always been enthusiastic about health and wellness and am a lifelong exerciser, but my Omron pedometer has helped me take my exercise routine to a new level. I love that it tracks multiple things, like distance, steps, calories burned, and duration. I also like the memory feature and the reports. I print out the year-to-date totals at the end of each month, and use that to challenge myself to maintain/improve my walk routine. I also do some strength training and enjoy aerobics, kickboxing, Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi and try to mix it up so I don't get bored and can always look forward to my workouts. I love to eat and enjoy most types of healthy foods, and am on a mission to preserve my good health through diet and exercise. I feel I am totally responsible for my overall health, and will do whatever I need to preserve good health for as long as I can without the aid of prescription drugs. I am currently 58 years old, and feel better now than I did when I was younger and had not yet developed good health habits."
