Millennium Results

Employers have saved significant dollars with Millennium.

Annual health care cost savings of $400 to $500 per participant have been achieved, based upon comparing actual results with predicted levels derived from diagnosis and claims history.

Millennium’s results are due to encouraging participation and effectively using data. Millennium integrates each company's health plan claims information with the data from each company's wellness activities and gives you outcome reports that contain practical information about the health risks an employee group faces. This information is then used to plan wellness activities targeted to address each group’s specific health risks.

The Millennium Outcomes Dashboard shows each company how its results compare with research-based best practice indicators across the health and wellness industry.  It also provides information about the group’s levels of involvement in Millennium activities and what levels of achievement and rewards have been reached.

The results speak for themselves.

Claims Experience

The average overall claims cost for health care services per Network Health member is lower for Millennium members than for non-Millennium members. This means cost savings for members and for employer groups.

Financial Results

Millennium is delivering results. Prior to joining Millennium, the groups were experiencing higher than average claims costs. Specifically, their average employee claims were higher than many other Network Health employee groups. It was hoped that Millennium would lower the claims costs for these groups to be more in line with other groups, but the Millennium program did better than that: average claims costs for the Millennium groups last year were BELOW the Network Health average!

Participation in Wellness Programming

Millennium Health Insurance - Employee Participation in Wellness Programming

Participation in the Millennium wellness programs averaged 83% last year, which is significantly better than the national benchmark target of 50%. The initial goal is employee participation, and that is clearly being accomplished through its communication and rewards strategies.

Annual Health Risk Assessment

Millennium Health Insurance - Employee Participation in Annual Health Risk Assessment - Group A

Health Risk Assessments (HRAs) are an important part of the Millennium wellness strategy because participation in an HRA has been shown to lower medical costs for those who take it. Simply taking the HRA is believed to get people thinking about their health, and when combined with the other Millennium activities, members have made the first steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Last year, 63% of the Millennium members completed an HRA, which is above the 60% national benchmark.

Biometric Improvement

When employees participate in wellness programs, on average the results of their health screenings improves. Millennium annual health screenings, also referred to as biometric screenings, include measurement of height, weight, blood pressure, body mass index, total cholesterol (with HDL and LDL measurements), blood sugar, and tobacco usage.  The first year's data is used to establish a baseline for Millennium employee and spouse members.  The results are used for comparison purposes in future HRAs and trend data is reported to Millennium group employers.

HRA Participation Over 3 Years

The level of HRA completion by Millennium participants is at the top of national benchmark standards. Participation in HRAs in considered one of the most important predictor of success for organization-sponsored health and wellness management programs, and top performing programs are expected to reach 90 to 100% participation. Millennium is proud to have attained a 98% HRA participation rate among its participants!

Rewards Achievement

An important indicator of health and wellness program success is the participant rewards achievement.  Millennium participants have the opportunity to earn rewards points in four different categories: Clinical, Education, Fitness and Behavioral. Grouping desired healthy activities into these categories helps to guide individuals into a healthy variety of wellness activities and behaviors.

The rewards are designed so they can be achieved by those who already have healthy lifestyles as well as those who are making initial efforts to be healthier.  The rewards program encourages people to continue their activities throughout the year so that they will form healthy habits that will stick with them long after they earn the rewards!

If it is unreasonably difficult due to a medical condition or medically inadvisable for a member to satisfy any health activity criteria, we will provide a reasonable alternative.  Our disease management nurses work with individual members in devising activities that work for them, within their limitations.

Millennium Testimonials

"When I got my pedometer, I was stunned to see how few steps I was taking in a day. Some days it was fewer than 1500. Knowing that 10,000 steps a day is a basis for good health, I started setting daily minimum goals. I found days when reaching even 5,000 steps was tough, but I did not miss a day. Now I am averaging 8,000 steps/day. I am not yet at my final goal of over 10,000 steps a day but my trend line is good. I feel better. And now I don't want to miss even one day of walking. Thanks!"
